What LandedHQ is

LandedHQ is a planning and estimation tool. It retrieves live duty rate data from HMRC's publicly available Trade Tariff API and calculates an estimated landed cost based on the information you enter. It is designed to help UK importers understand their likely import costs before placing orders, so they can price their products correctly and protect their margins.

It is not a customs declaration service, and it is not professional customs, legal, or tax advice.

What our calculations can and cannot do

AI commodity code suggestions

When you use the "AI commodity code finder" feature, your product description is sent to an AI language model (Claude by Anthropic) which returns a suggested HMRC commodity code. These suggestions are based on the AI's training and the text you provide. They are starting points for your own research — not authoritative classifications.

⚠ Commodity code classification matters
Using the wrong commodity code on a customs declaration can result in underpayment or overpayment of duty, HMRC penalties, delays at the border, or goods being seized. The importer of record is legally responsible for the accuracy of their customs declarations, not LandedHQ. If you are unsure of the correct classification for your goods, consult a licensed customs agent or freight forwarder before importing.

Tariff rate accuracy

Duty rates are retrieved from the HMRC Trade Tariff API, which is the same data source used by UK importers and customs agents. We refresh our cached rates at least every 24 hours.

However, we cannot guarantee that rates displayed are accurate at all times. HMRC may publish updated rates that take time to be reflected in our system. Always verify the current rate on the official HMRC Trade Tariff before making a customs declaration or committing to a commercial transaction.

No professional advice relationship

Using LandedHQ does not create a professional advice relationship of any kind between you and LandedHQ Ltd. We are a software provider, not a customs agent, freight forwarder, solicitor, or tax adviser. Nothing produced by the LandedHQ platform constitutes advice within the meaning of any professional regulatory framework.

If you need customs advice, we recommend engaging a licensed customs agent or freight forwarder. You can find accredited UK customs agents through the British International Freight Association (BIFA) or the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
